Broom Lane is a special residential scheme that has been designed to help young adults with challenging needs live a normal life, just like we do. Of course, such people need extra care and do you know government spends large amount of money to help these people? But projects like Broom Lane are going to reduce such costs.
What Broom Lane is like? The residential apartments in Broom Lane are designed in a way to keep these people away from serious risks. The basic idea is to provide such people as much freedom as possible. Maybe walking into the kitchen can pose a big danger for them but that doesn’t imply that we need to keep them away from kitchen forever. The dangerous components can be removed or redesigned to reduce the risk. That’s what Broom Lane apartments are like.
The apartments are now inhabited by a few set of people with challenging behaviours, mainly with autism, to live a normal life. Some of them now even earn their own bread. These are those people which would have otherwise ended up in secure care and would have lived their life bounded within four walls as if they’re mad. They just have challenging needs.
Innovations like Broom Lane project can help the world to change its perception. In fact, such an innovation for the challenging behaviours can bridge the gap between us (the normal people, if that’s what you would call yourself) and the people with challenging needs. They’re not mad or ill. They just need a little extra care and a normal life.

The fact that the government actually benefited from this project and is now saving money that was otherwise spent on providing care facilities to such people has made this more lucrative.
